getting to the core of the matter

First-apologies for not posting more often. Second-apologies for no pictures-yet.  I will have them, I just don't know when. My life is getting more organized again and so you will see more of me here.

I have fallen in love with yoga and tai chi.  Yeah for me!  My body is getting happy which is a good thing as it hasn't been happy lately.  I decided to do something about it.  I joined the YMCA (a little Village People here) and started taking classes beginning in February and I am also meeting with a girlfriend at 6 am to workout.

"What prompted this?" you may ask.  hmmm...I am getting older (gag) and I remember through the years many women I have known having to have surgeries to fix their plumbing...and it doesn't always work. I have had four babies and I worry that my inner workings will fail me at some point-face it-how many of us do our kegel exercises not only the way we should, but on a regular basis? When was the last time you did kegels while driving your car and stopped at the stop light? I have a very deep fear that sometime far into the future I will end up having to wear depends because I pee when I laugh. No thank you!

Welcome to the journey to fix the deep center of my inner being-well at least for today-don't know how personal I wish to get here, although how can you not get personal talking about kegels?

So, I started looking on the internet for things to help with kegel exercises or discussions on how to do them correctly as it had been awhile and who knows, maybe they have new ways of doing things now. Low and behold I discovered Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives sponsoring a site called Kegelmasters.com with her smiling face telling readers that "Every woman should have a Kegelmaster!"

Needless to say after perusing the site I thought I would give it a try and so I made my purchase.  They have two choices-a basic kegelmaster that gives you 15 levels of resistance that will work you up to 4.5 pounds of resistance or the advanced kegelmaster that gives you an additional 64 levels of resistance where you work up to 9 pounds of resistance.  The premise is to give your pelvic floor something to work against thereby strengthening your muscles. I'll let you know how well it works sometime in the future.

My other endeavor is to work on the muscles of my lower core and get that built up before attempting to compete here at home with those on The Biggest Loser. No I am not mega pounds overweight-I actually am around 40 pounds overweight, however, my biggest problem is being out of shape, but have you watched The Biggest Loser?  Okay, they put me to shame in the exercise department!

Sooo that is the start of my journey.  First, fix my inner workings and then second, maybe a 10k?  We'll see...
