oh yoga

i am back at it again...yoga that is. i love yoga, not very good at it but i love the way it makes my body feel. stretching out and elongating the muscles, loosening the fascia (oh the burn). i make sure i feel it. someday i will be able to do what i see others do-turn their nimble bodies into pretzels...oh i wish my body would hurry...patience

hello again

obviously it has been awhile.

my friend died.

i was there with four others.

i didn't get her quilt done.

i really don't feel like seeing it right now.

it has been months.

we used to have such good conversations.

few and far between...but good.

busy lives.

no time.

how sad...

having a moment...

Update-haven't worked out since spring break when my youngest had to have her wisdom teeth out.  Getting a little flabby here and I am sure my girlfriend thinks I am ignoring her. Thankfully her life is busier than mine so maybe she hasn't noticed that I haven't been slinking in at 6 am to dance a little jig alongside her.

In September I had a minor rear-ender (my end was the one to get reared) and I suffered a moderate whiplash.  However, I think my body hates me as I am not fixed yet.  My left shoulder hurts today as I had to have dye shot into the joint so that the MRI would show everything wrong with it, hopefully.  They did an MRI on my neck also.  Now it is just the waiting game for when I see the doctor again to find out the verdict.

I bought a quilt kit from Keepsake Quilting to make for my friend, Nancy.  The pattern/kit and fabric line is called In Bloom.  The flowers are tulips, pansies and primroses.  The colors are purple, burgundy, green, and black background. Nancy loves flowers and the tulips and pansies are just lovely. I am hurriedly trying to get this quilt done so it can be quilted and given to her as she has brain cancer and isn't fairing well.  The upshot is, I had an oops and had to order two replacement pieces of the kit in order to finish the quilt.  They are still not here.  At least I can work on what is here while I am waiting. Since my sewing room is only halfway dug out (it is the Black Hole) I am sewing at the house of another friend of mine.

I have a little more time given to me as I am not having to get food to Nancy and her husband tonight as she is now in a facility.

I told my husband I need to have a supply of quilts done just for this purpose so that they are ready and not waiting for me to get them done.

...moment over

getting to the core of the matter

First-apologies for not posting more often. Second-apologies for no pictures-yet.  I will have them, I just don't know when. My life is getting more organized again and so you will see more of me here.

I have fallen in love with yoga and tai chi.  Yeah for me!  My body is getting happy which is a good thing as it hasn't been happy lately.  I decided to do something about it.  I joined the YMCA (a little Village People here) and started taking classes beginning in February and I am also meeting with a girlfriend at 6 am to workout.

"What prompted this?" you may ask.  hmmm...I am getting older (gag) and I remember through the years many women I have known having to have surgeries to fix their plumbing...and it doesn't always work. I have had four babies and I worry that my inner workings will fail me at some point-face it-how many of us do our kegel exercises not only the way we should, but on a regular basis? When was the last time you did kegels while driving your car and stopped at the stop light? I have a very deep fear that sometime far into the future I will end up having to wear depends because I pee when I laugh. No thank you!

Welcome to the journey to fix the deep center of my inner being-well at least for today-don't know how personal I wish to get here, although how can you not get personal talking about kegels?

So, I started looking on the internet for things to help with kegel exercises or discussions on how to do them correctly as it had been awhile and who knows, maybe they have new ways of doing things now. Low and behold I discovered Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives sponsoring a site called Kegelmasters.com with her smiling face telling readers that "Every woman should have a Kegelmaster!"

Needless to say after perusing the site I thought I would give it a try and so I made my purchase.  They have two choices-a basic kegelmaster that gives you 15 levels of resistance that will work you up to 4.5 pounds of resistance or the advanced kegelmaster that gives you an additional 64 levels of resistance where you work up to 9 pounds of resistance.  The premise is to give your pelvic floor something to work against thereby strengthening your muscles. I'll let you know how well it works sometime in the future.

My other endeavor is to work on the muscles of my lower core and get that built up before attempting to compete here at home with those on The Biggest Loser. No I am not mega pounds overweight-I actually am around 40 pounds overweight, however, my biggest problem is being out of shape, but have you watched The Biggest Loser?  Okay, they put me to shame in the exercise department!

Sooo that is the start of my journey.  First, fix my inner workings and then second, maybe a 10k?  We'll see...

is this the right title?

Who knows?  When I entitled my blog I wasn't exactly thinking of whether or not it was appropriate-more like is there a blog space available by this name?  Soooo do I keep this name? or do I find another one?  Can you just rename your blog or do you have to actually ditch the thing and start all over?  Ugh!  I don't want to start all over!  I like the way it looks and what I have done with it and most of it was through trial and error.  I am not sure I can even replicate the things that I have done with my blog to make it look this way.  And is it the right way?

And really-do we really have to capitalize the beginning of sentences and proper nouns, etc. when it is so much easier and faster to just type?

So, I will have to think on whether or not I wish to keep this name or find a new one and what type of format I wish to use-as in casual or formal.

Wish me luck-
